Welcome to KochChat — your AI cooking companion. This Privacy Policy explains what we collect, how we use it, and what choices you have.

1. Who we are

2. What we collect

  • Google sign-in info: your name, email, and profile picture provided by Google when you log in.
  • Cooking chats: the prompts and messages you send to KochChat, stored so you can view your chat history and we can improve the app.
  • Device & usage: IP address, browser type, and basic usage data to keep KochChat secure and functioning properly.

Please avoid sharing sensitive information (like medical or allergy details). Always double-check ingredients and cooking safety.

3. How we use your data

  • To run KochChat — process your prompts through the OpenAI API and display results.
  • To improve performance, reliability, and cooking accuracy based on aggregated usage trends.
  • To communicate with you about service updates or legal information when needed.
  • To comply with legal requirements and prevent abuse.

We do not use your personal data or chats to train OpenAI or other foundation models.

4. AI & cooking safety

KochChat uses AI to generate cooking suggestions. Outputs can be inaccurate or incomplete — always verify ingredients, times, and temperatures yourself.

5. Legal bases (GDPR & Swiss law)

We rely on contract (to provide KochChat), legitimate interests (improving and securing the app), and consent (for cookies or optional analytics, once added).

6. Sharing

We only share what’s needed to operate KochChat:

  • Hosting: Vercel
  • AI processing: OpenAI
  • Authentication: Google

We never sell your personal data or use it for advertising without your consent.

7. Data retention

We keep your chats and account data while your account exists. You can request deletion anytime. Backups and logs are regularly cleaned or anonymized.

8. Security

Data is transmitted securely and stored on trusted infrastructure. No system is perfectly secure, but we take reasonable steps to protect your information.

9. International transfers

Data may be processed outside your country. For users in the EEA, UK, or Switzerland, we use safeguards like Standard Contractual Clauses.

10. Your rights
